Ed needs camera time too

Sliding down together is twice as fun.

Marketing

Edamame and I were watching Kota the dinosaur commercials on YouTube today and they said "Real live dinosaur", so Ed asked me if it was. Of course I said no, because I like to quash imaginations like that, and then he asked me why the said that. My reply was simply "...because they are lying so that you'll buy it". Teaching early on to resist the tricks of marketing. Unfortunately, it didn't work that well and now he wants this

Kota and Pals Hatchlings

Now, do I cave and get him this for his birthday, when he'll really only play with it for a few days, or do I keep racking my brain for something cool to make him.

Long time no update

Our lives have been a bit monotonous lately, so getting motivated to
write about nothing is a bit hard. I've been trying to take us outside
when it isn't raining. Bk has learned how to hang an swing during our
outdoor adventures.

Love is...

Carrying mangos (and bananas and cookies) in your backpack through a
crowded train for over an hour after a very long day at work, because
you know that is what your wife has been wanting all week. Thank you
sweetie.

Kabuto Pic

...we have to take this picture every year. Good boy tradition.

Chalk drawing

BK has learned how to open and unlock the front door. So we've been spending a lot of time outside. Plus the weather has been beautiful, the house stays cleaner, and we have fewer break outs that way.

With all the time outside Edamame has been practicing his drawing skills. Our current interest is dinosaurs, especially with the arrival of our dinosaur encyclopedia. Here are some of his renditions.

The all time favorite, T-Rex.

A Stegosaurus...can you see the plates on it's back?

A Brachiosaurus eating a leaf..."because he's a herbivore!"

Oh and I almost cried during FHE tonight when 007 asked him what Ed was thankful for from mommy and he said "Thank you for not giving me what I want". We talked some more about it and it turns out he's glad I don't always give him sweets and stuff that he asks for so that he can eat good food and grow strong. Pretty mature thought. Of course this is balanced out by the random fish, shark, dinosaur song this morning. Though he did stay in Primary by himself today the whole time. I got a Mother's Day card with eels and fish and other unidentifiable sea creatures on it.

Golden Week 2010

I've been feeling guilty about not posting much lately, but thanks to a wonderful husband who washed the dishes for Mother's Day, I can catch up a bit.

As per usual we headed off to Chiba for Golden Week to be play with Obaachan and Ojiichan. I got to discover how Inagekaigan was created from landfill about the same time that 007 was born(there is a local museum like place with the story) as well as some old school clamming geta and boats. Quite interesting.

Ok, but now into the flesh of what's been going on.

Our first full day there we headed to the Kaigan of Inagekaigan a.k.a. the beach!

We spent a little time looking for clams, but found nothing. BK started playing with some shell and we thought it was just a shell he'd found, but it turned out it was still a live clam!!! The only success was the baby. We took it home and Ojiichan said it was delicious.

The next day we went ti a place called Kid Dom(like Kingdom, but for kids...yeah dumb), but the boys had fun

Edamame was so excited to make his own Koinobori...but lost interest very quickly.

BK on the other hand loved flailing around with the pen in hand.

Then of course there was Kodomo no Hi, kid's day! We ended up going to a festival, and tried to get the boys to ride the police bike, but a few kids before Ed and BK a baby started to cry when he was put on so Ed would have none of it, and BK lasted 10 seconds.

Every day we got to play around and have fun on the playgrounds nearby.

But the best part was the brotherly love that we got to see.

Or brotherly cannibalism?

BK usually wins in the end.
