First laugh

Sorry her head(and the sticker on her forehead) is cut off, but the smile is to great to not share. Mahana laughed for the first time today! I could tell she's been gearing up for it for the last few days. Finally I was tickling her at a friend's house and out it came! I'm so excited to hear it again.

BK bragging

So despite a stellar review at the city dental check last week I found a suspicious spot between BK's two front teeth, so I took him to our dentist. Sure enough he had a cavity on each tooth. Now here comes the bragging part - my two year and two month old son held his mouth open and sat still while the dentist drilled and filled. It was shallow enough to not need any meds. I held his hands and explained what was going on and he was great!! I am amazed by this kid. Explaining makes such a big difference with this guy.

He hasn't cried at a shot since he was hospitalized, and is usually very willing to share. He may not know his own strength but he is a really sweet kid.

Oh and he's teething his last set of molars.

He kept asking to go for a plane ride afterwards

Bedtime bathroom conversations

Me & 007: Hurry! Go to the bathroom.

Ed: But I don't have to....wait I do have to go! Silly me, what was I thinking?

Game addiction

Mom: getting daddy to make you stop playing games is like the blind leading the blind(explain that phrase)...So it means you guys can't stop playing games.

Ed: We're not like that!

Mom: ok, then prove me wrong, go put on your pajamas.

Ed: After this game.

Nuclear Boy

We are doing fine, Mahana should be getting her passport soon, and the aftershocks are quieting down for the most part(we still get some big ones). People are still jittery, and I saw a friend I hadn't seen in a while that lives up in Fukushima and she looks like she hasn't slept in a while, so please keep praying for people. They need their rest and the constant aftershocks aren't letting them.

If you need an explanation about what is going on at the Nuclear Power Plant, here is a great video that one of 007's friends found. I also learned the word for Nuclear Power plant in Japanese...I'm feeling pretty cool.

Angry birds in bed

Ed stole Obaachan's iPod and they are both snuggled in her futon playing/watching Angry Birds. Love these kids. So glad Obaachan is here right now. Our power is supposed to be out, but for once we aren't getting a blackout when it's planned. Woo hoo! Hope we don't get it tonight instead.

For those who are following, I'll be calling the US Embassy today. I don't know what my plans are yet(still have to talk to 007), but I want to know what's going on.

Thank you!

As much as I want to go 'home' right now, as 007 points out this is my home now. I love that so many people are donating and trying to help the place that has given me a place to belong and raise my family. All three of my kids were born here, and this house is the longest I've lived anywhere ever.

I'll admit it, I'm scared. The aftershocks are nerve wracking, I'm worried about meltdown, the rolling blackouts are stressful(today we are schedule to go out from 9:30-1 and maybe again in the evening), people can't get gas for their cars, and we are trying not to turn on our heaters to conserve energy/fuel and not let weird radioactive stuff in the house(we are paranoid).

I'm grateful for a husband who is strong enough to be at work from 6am because of the blackouts. He walked for EIGHT hours to come home Friday. Our house is sturdy, and the kids love flashlights. Our stove works because it is gas! I can cook!!! It's not snowing here. There is a lot to be thankful for.

I needed to let that out. I'm so lucky, please pray for those further north of us.
