I got nunchuck skills

Ok, so seriously, 007 knows how to use nunchuks (nunchaku for those who want the original word), but I don't think he is near as good as this guy pretending to be Bruce Lee.

thanks to changston for posting this over where he blogs.

food thoughts

I've been doing some stuff to try to get me to lose baby weight(and then stuff I gained after I came home from the hospital) and us to eat even healthier. By the way this post is going to be all over the place mentally.

I blended up some strawberries that had been covered in sugar(not that much) a few days ago, added some grated carrot and gelatin and served it as jelly on our PB & J. I think it is kinda like freezer jam, but without the cooking which I guess denatures the fruit's vitamins. I'm going to try it some more. I like adding the grated carrot, good nutrition, but doesn't alter the taste much.

Edamame has rebelled against PB, and he loves Macadamia nuts(pecans, cashews...dang kid and his expensive tastes!). Has anyone ever tried to make their own macadamia nut butter? peanut butter? almond butter? If so, how do you do it?

I love eating just whole grains, they are delicious...more than that, potty time is AWESOME(diaper time on the other hand is much messier....but hey at least everyone, including the plugged up BK is more regular).

my tandoori chicken sucks. I don't normally like Indian food, and tandoori chicken is pretty much the only thing I do like, but I can't make it, so I give up on the whole cuisine! I know many hearts just broke out there, I'm sorry.

007 said my cookies were better than store bought cookies the other day. I'm very happy.

Anyone know of a good way to clean a pasta maker? Love it, but it is a pain to clean.

I'm sad that strawberry season is ending in asia...booger.

I'm happy that we're thinking about heading to the US for the late summer when strawberries(and many other fruits) are in season there.

Rice...oh where do I begin. In an attempt to be healthy with white rice the Japanese add stuff like amaranth, quinoa, sesame seeds, barley, and a variety of other small grains(or stuff manufactured into small grains) to give it a bit more nutrition. I add it to our brown rice, and I LOVE it. I'm stoked and it is fun. I just need to figure out what a few of those things are in English.

Oh! I remembered what I wanted to write about Edamame. I taught him about ladies and gentlemen the other day(he was calling nurses ladies and saying he wanted to be a lady...yeah cross dressing, here we come), and it was cute he was saying stuff like "Hey Lady, help me up the stairs!", "Come here lady." "Lady, gimme that" of course he had no idea why it was so blasted funny to me, but it was. He really liked being a gentleman too, and said his "please"s and "thank you"s religiously the rest of the day. Totally not food related, but when you remember, you remember.

I'll try to get a picture of his scar to show what BK's vaccine will turn into.

Officially Japanese

BK got his Japanese 'stamp' today as I like to call it. It is actually a TB vaccine(not test people, vaccine), but EVERYONE gets one when they are about 3 months old. 007 has the scar from his, Edamame has his scar and all of his friends do too. My poor baby, but he was a trooper, and thankfully this was his first one(they like to do vaccines one at a time, widely space here, so as not to over load their bodies...smart thinking...hear that AAP?)

Edamame stayed home with Obaachan, and decided not to nap. Oy! He was a beast later today, though he came up with something hillarious. After putting on some of 007's nicely scented lotion he started saying "I'm so pretty mommy, I'm so pretty mommy! I'm a girl!" over and over again. Then when I turned around he started holding his hands funny and talking in a whisper and saying "I'm a girl, hello." He was trying to do a high voice...it was pretty good for a two year old.

oh, and while Obaachan was here I decided to take passport photos. Unfortunately I neglected to notice the red light coming from the sunlight filtering through the tent so I'll have to retake them in a room without a tent, but hey at least these are pretty cute.

brrr it's frigid in here!

Yep, we are wasteful, lustful people. It is pretty nice though. We've got a lot more fridge space(for storage inside), and it will supposedly keep our food fresh longer(there is a vacuum sealed drawer). When Edamame saw it for the first time he looked so surprised, it was pretty funny.

Return of the Camera

We got 007's camera back a few days ago, and what a blessing it is. Our pictures look nice again. I still suck at taking them, but thankfully enough 007 doesn't.

Last Friday was a holiday so I decided that with 007 home I could brave pizza. Edamame had a blast and made it 'snow' on himself.

Then Edamame wanted to hold BK, this picture turned out fairly nicely.

We're getting the hang of things a bit more this week, but had a few rough days for some reason. I love how inquisitive Edamame is, but when he asks questions like "What's green doing?" or "What's pasta from(for)?" again I'm going to loose it. He asks those question for EVERYTHING!!!! 007 started laughing during story time last night because Edamame asked "What's barnred doing?" after I said "He's painting the barn red."

Is it bad that we make fun of our kid after he's asleep. It's so cute and predictable. That and when he says things like "I want it! Say Yes mommy! Say yes!!"

The joys of two year olds. He's said some funny stuff lately, but unfortunately I forgot it...bummer!

Make up work

Yesterday was a sucky, sucky day with a lot of people lacking in sleep, and one person refusing to eat a lot of the time. Plus a nice wake up call at 3:45 from the bigger kid which in turn woke up the little one(who hadn't woken up yet...I hope he tries that again tonight).

This morning's fun made up for a lot of it(though nap time shenanigans are taking some of the sparkle away). Sorry about the poor quality, phone cameras are good spur of the moment, but don't look as cool.

I went to open the shutters and Edamame rolled over to hold BK.

Both of them are awake, I love these next two because it looks like they are sharing secrets, really they are just enjoying each other, which is just as good.

"Look over there BK!"

"Oh ho! I get it, hehehe"

"Konnichi ha"(Edamame loves to shake hands and say hello)

Can you guess what is going on here? Yep, Edamame is trying to lift up his shirt and feed Brass Knuckles.

"I'm going in for it mommy" - BK

It was pretty funny. All in all a decent morning.

Another potential job

"come look at my nipples Minnie (mouse)"
